All About Downtown, San Diego

Downtown San Diego, California is considered to be the heart of the city. It is located just south of Balboa Park, east and north of the San Diego Bay, and southwest of the San Diego International Airport. Downtown San Diego is the most dynamic part of the city. Within this district, eight distinct neighborhoods tie Downtown’s foundations together. Each of these neighborhoods has their own unique characteristics, such as, cultural atmospheres, histories, and lifestyles. These neighborhoods include Core District, Columbia, Cortez, East Village, Gaslamp Quarter, Horton Plaza, Little Italy and Marina.
