sign3 University Heights: This diverse neighborhood sits in Central San Diego and is bordered by Park Boulevard and Adams Ave and is adjacent to Hillcrest and Normal Heights. University Heights is one of the oldest communities in San Diego. Its former trolley barn (now the site of Trolley Barn Park) was the destination of the first trolley line. Trolleys pulled into the “barn” for repairs and maintenance.

University Heights apartments and homes provide a variety of housing options. Many of the buildings have been completely renovated or carefully restored to its original condition. Residents are able to enjoy some of the historical establishments while living a contemporary lifestyle. It is an urban neighborhood with a pedestrian-friendly environment. There are many specialty shops, restaurants, cafes, galleries and boutiques on the main streets (Park Boulevard and Adams Ave). Its central location allows residents to travel to most of the popular areas in little to no time.

This is the location of some of the most prominent University Heights homes.You may find tourists drawn to the northern border of this mesa to enjoy the spectacular view of the Mission Valley rim. It was home to Mission Cliffs Gardens and a large ostrich farm. In the early 1900s ostrich feathers were very popular in fashion and the farm became a big attraction. Look around and  you’ll still see images of ostriches everywhere.
