I mean who doesn&#8217;t prefer a passed along name to cold calling?Â  I understand the reason behind it certainly but when it comes to getting a referral, do you really want one that you have had to ask for?</p>
<p>If you are providing valuable service to people they can&#8217;t wait to refer!Â  Someone passing along your name shouldn&#8217;t be doing it because you asked them to but because they believe in your service. Not only do you run the risk of making your client uncomfortable by asking them for a referral but as a person trying to position yourself as a valuable resource do you really want to jeopardize your credibility by asking for clients?</p>
<p>In a world where we are surrounded by poor service, provide your clients with a reason to refer you &#8211; inspire them to pass your name on.</p>
